The 17th Kenya Internet Governance Forum 2024 convened in August, was a successful event that brought together a diverse range of stakeholders to discuss critical issues related to the Internet and its governance in the country.

Participants discussed the need for improved internet connectivity, infrastructure development, and affordable access for all. In addition, it addressed the importance of ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or location, has access to the Internet and can benefit from its opportunities.
Participants discussed the growing threats to cybersecurity and the need for robust measures to protect personal data and critical infrastructure.
Thus, the importance of protecting human rights and freedoms in the digital age, including freedom of expression and access to information was highlighted.
It further emphasised the importance of involving young people in internet governance discussions and ensuring their safety and well-being online.

East Africa Internet Governance Forum (EAIGF)
The 11th edition of the EAIGF will be held in Kampala, Uganda, from September 11th to 12th, 2024, under the theme “Building our Multistakeholder Digital Future for East Africa.”
The forum aims to create an inclusive, multilingual platform for discussing critical issues related to Internet development and governance in East Africa.
